hero

no photo.

this tuesday, early afternoon, a dear relative was driving in cincinnati.  it was a gloomy, drizzly day, but not raining.
as he pulled to a red light, he saw four thugs beating an old man.  the old man had been holding a sign asking for money.  the four young men had broken the man's false teeth, and had him on the ground.  they were going to steal the six dollars he had gotten.

there was a line of cars waiting at the red light, and no one was moving.

my dear one jumped out and used pepper spray to stop the beating.  the youths ran away.

the old man was full of gratitude, and the police came quickly.  we don't know if they apprehended the thugs, but they may have gotten two who were moving slowly.

my friend stayed long enough to be sure the homeless man was okay, and that he still had his money.

as you can see, there's beauty here - courage and valor -
but i hate to think of that happening to anyone anywhere, much less here in the queen city.

may your weekend be safe, secure, and filled with joy.

  1. Oh Noreen. What a brave and wonderful man your relative is! Thank him for me. Thank him for all of us. I'm going to read this story to my family and share it with as many people as I can.

  2. Your relative is a very brave man. I'm glad he managed to stop the thugs and I hope the police caught them. I don't know how anyone gets to the point that they think it is ok to attack a defenseless old man for six dollars!

  3. So terrible, I don't understand how people can do such things.

Your dear one is brave and selfless. But, I am glad he is also ok and didn't get hurt. He thought of someone else before himself.

  6. Breaks my heart, and even more that only your relative stopped to help. Thank goodness for his kindness. He is brave and courageous. May we all be as courageous if ever we find ourselves in the same situation.
