it's going to snow some more.
 winter beauty still.

kale and green tea

a new snack - heat oven to 250, put a little olive oil in a bowl.
wash, tear, and dip the kale.  add a bit of salt.
bake for 15-30 minutes, depending on how you like it.  the photo is before baking, and there are no photos of after due to chips being eaten.  recommended!

at the australian blog farmhouse home, catherine's found a delicious kale salad recipe.

the steam rising from the green tea was really lovely.
food photographer, lauren of still+life, would have made it a work of art.  hot tea is appealing now especially if you live in the northeast u.s., where it has either recently snowed or is due to snow.

warm thoughts and much joy to you.

heart mini marathon 2013

it was still pretty dark at 7:45 a.m. when the gun went off.  everyone was happy to start because it was 35 degrees with a little snow.
in the front, they zoomed over the starting line, but in the back the crowd made everyone walk for a while.  then it was time to set the pace.
the race leaves downtown by the road along the river, and
soon there was a moody view of cincinnati.
in a few weeks these bushes will be green again, and you won't be able to see the river from the road.
there were bands, but not many spectators.  it was cold!
this run your little heart out! sign had a caveat in the corner but not really.
my teen liked this picture - the pole in the middle makes it geometric.
the mercy health heart mini 9 miles is over.  (the half marathon, 10k, and 5k, too.)

may the luck of the irish bring you joy and
all roads lead you home.

waiting

soccer practice at a park last night lasted only an hour.
it was not near home, so i just stayed
 and ran around.
the wind was cold, but the scenery was lovely.

beautiful waiting time.
joy to you!

rainy time-change traffic

a waterfall was flowing into the road this morning.
due to setting our clocks one hour earlier, morning came early.
the rain slowed traffic.
at school, one child said she was too tired to dress and still had her pajama shirt on.
ah well, you can do math in pajamas!

safe travel to you.

television

a book review of a television script?
 the show is downton abbey.
the script is worth reading if you enjoy the crawley family and their staff.
the author, julian fellowes, or baron fellowes of west stafford dl, has included comments.  they are notes on an actor's performance of a scene, a character's personality, or an aspect of the show (such as why the first episode opens with the titanic sinking).
one author's note explains that in season one episode three, when a turkish visitor dies in scandalous circumstances, some press said this was unbelievable.  it's interesting to read julian's explanation of how the story line was rooted in reality.

 necessary?  no.  enjoyable?  certainly.

joy to you.
