spring

during our field trip last week, i learned that this little yellow flower is an invasive species, and that our forest has changed a lot with this plant and the honeysuckle that proliferates.
but this little invader makes a beautiful carpet of flowers in the still-wintery forest.

 the field - still brown.
some green is popping out by the little miami river.
outdoor beauty.  happy spring!

  1. Isn't it funny how invasive flowers/plants can be pretty but then I feel bad for liking them. Anyway, so pretty! Teri

  2. i think that weeds are just plants growing in the wrong environment. the yellow and green carpet is magical. such beautiful, special moments captured, showing that spring has arrived.

  3. Fascinating to watch the change of seasons through your photos - we don't have such dramatic differences here.

  4. love your pics.. and i loved the yellow "weeds"... they really look like the arrival of spring! and the sunlight through the bridge is almost magical.... love love love that one!

Also wanted to let you know i am not going to be blogging anymore... maybe someday i will.. but for now i need to focus on whats important and it was starting to feel like a chore thinking up what to blog about... and i really felt like i was blathering most of the time.
i am taking a class... "the art of wild abandonment" online through christy tomlinson studios... so cathartic... learning so much... and i am finding that i can "store" my art on a pinterest board... which is why i started the blog to keep a little diary of my projects. if you are on pinterest you can find me there at http://pinterest.com/artcabana/

i will still be checking in with your lovely blog.. you do such a nice job of it and i am so inspired by your world through your eyes.

  5. Oh, the sad life of a weed. It doesn't seem fair, does it? Beautiful snapshots. (I love what Leah said, of course. ;)
