caballo blanco

remember this book?  it's anthropology, running instruction, and a gripping story of  simple people who live in mexico in an area infested with drug cartels.
the mysterious runner that author chris mcdougall went searching for has died.  he left his hotel in new mexico for a 12-mile run last tuesday, and didn't return.  they found his body days later after an intense search over rugged terrain.  his real name was micah true, and he was 58.
sad beauty.

  1. Oh, what sad news. Any idea how he died? I read that book and really enjoyed it even though I didn't make the leap to "natural" running. Sad beauty indeed.

  2. He passed on doing what he loved. We should all be so lucky.

  3. I've never heard of this book or the story behind it. It does sound tragic. I think I'm going to have to add this to my growing reading list. Thank you.

  4. Like Theresa, I never heard of this book. I guess I'm going to have to read it to find out why he was searching for the runner and why he was living in a horrible part of the world...and so much more that I have questions about. Teri
