maine run

our family lives in ohio.  mid-country, we enjoy the ohio river and our beautiful trees and animals.  this weekend i traveled to maine to visit my parents.  aah!  very much the same,  yet so different.  here is the frosty field behind the guest house where we stayed.  it was early morning and 18 degrees.
  the kennebunk river.
we do not have this store in ohio, but it explains the surfers we saw in the water, trying to catch the tiny, freezing waves.
this shop called my name, as all bookstores do, but it was early, not open, and we didn't have time to go back.
this has-everything store was open and busy with locals.  an ambulance was outside, running.  i wondered if everyone was okay, but they said the emt is a daily customer.  i got directions to the beach.  the store hours sign says 6 a.m - 9 p.m. 7 days a week (and we rest on the 8th day).  hardworking people.
no signs like this in ohio.
made it to the beach in time to see the sun rise!  more maine pictures tomorrow.  did you get outside this weekend?

  1. Gorgeous! I love where we live, and I'm so grateful that there's water everywhere, but sometimes I wish it were more quirky or special like that sweet place you captured with your camera. Can't wait to see more pictures!

  2. I *love* Maine. Acadia is one of my favorite places to visit. Can't wait to take my kids camping there. Did you grow up in Maine?

I'm looking forward to more pictures!

  4. Heidi, my parents retired to Maine. It's been a joy to go there and visit them. I can see why it is one of your favorite places!
