sunset

the rugged beauty of the maine coast is stunning.

at the same time, it's puzzling.  how did that rock get its stripes?  how long ago?  the science of the ocean, the tides and the moon, the geology - amaze.

last week i taught our young students geometry - "horizon" is the basis of horizontal.  i had them imagine they were at the beach, looking far out into the distance.  the line connecting sea and sky is the horizon.  then i took a stick and placed it in a bowl of colored water.  horizontal is the direction of still water.  (now you've had your geometry lesson for the day.)
this water was on the other side of the road from the beach.
these photos are authentic, not enhanced in any way.  the sun was setting, the air cool, and the colors bright.  beauty enough for one day.  sunrise at the ocean tomorrow.  joy to you!

  3. The colours captured in your photographs are so saturated. The blue in the last photo is so engaging that i feel like i am there by the water. Glorious natural beauty. xxx
