cookie making

sisters are a major blessing, and i have five. (our two brothers are pretty wonderful, too.) after a busy friday at work, two of my sisters visited for dinner and cookie making - just sisters.  i had refrigerated the dough, and made baked butternut squash and whole wheat pasta.
it was a joy to roll out the dough and cut out the shapes with them, just as we had as children.

i learned that if you leave a candy cane in the wrapper, and bang it gently with a hammer, it breaks into sweet pieces, as in the star at the top of this picture.  yum!  have you been baking?

  1. Very cute cookies! I wan't to make some, and you make me want to have another baby (in a few years of course!) so that she can have some siblings to share these types of moments with! I am an only child, and it can be a little lonely!

  5. Yummy cookies, Noreen! We haven't started baking yet, but I love to do sugar cookies with my kids - so fun to decorate! I feel like it's an opportunity to use my BFA. :)

5 sisters! I imagine you have some stories to tell about your childhood! I think it sounds fun. I have 5 children, and one of my dearest hopes is that when they're older they'll enjoy each other and that we'll have really fun Christmases! :)

(btw, how much running did the cookies equal? :) )
