chihuly at cincinnati art museum

yesterday at the cincinnati art museum, i enjoyed the blue chihuly glass sculpture in the lobby.  it reminded me of our spring break adventure in columbus.  at the franklin park conservatory, they have a lot of chihuly's works.  the fish pond balls were one of my favorites.

the man who was cleaning was very personable.  these sculptures take maintenance!

the conservatory is indoor/outdoor, and beautiful from every angle.  notice the chihuly balls up on the roof of the lower level.  really well designed.

  1. I love Chihuly glass. He has a studio near Seattle where I live. Have you seen his sculpture at the Ballagio in Las Vegas. It's gorgeous!

  3. Hi Noreen! I LOVE your blog and I'm so glad I found it (through BYW). I'm a Cincinnati native and I actually just got a little teary reading some of these posts. I have been living abroad for 3 years and sometimes I am very homesick. x, Beth

  4. Those are so pretty. I like them most in the stream. I've seen his work at the Bellagio and there was an exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art where you entered the exhibit through walls of glass, like a tunnel. It was gorgeous! Just found you through BYW!

  5. I have never been to the Bellagio or Seattle to see Chihuly's work, but have seen it at the Naples Museum of Art. They have a ceiling there, so beautiful you lie on the floor to absorb it. Yes, very funny. The children and I bring sketchbooks and sit and color it.

    Thanks for your comments!

  6. Hi from BYW! We have a Chihuly at MOCA (which is the Museum of Contemporary Art in Virginia Beach) and it's a stunner. Reminiscent of the one in the photo where the man was cleaning. And I don't like to dust picture frames! Everyone was very worried about it during the earthquake we had back in August. I'm enjoying your blog and your photography very much.
