When we lived in San Diego, we were essentially *in* the desert. Not the high desert, but close. It's a stark beauty. Not my usual sort, but during El Nino years, when it's rainy, there's not much more stunning.
Living in Southern California, I believe we officially live in the desert. It takes a lot of water to keep So. Cal. green and lush, which is why Northern California hates us (we steal all their water) and why some people are turning to drought tolerant landscape. When's it's hot, it's a dry heat, which is nice. No mugginess.
I enjoy cacti. It seems they get overlooked. They are beautiful in their own way. I've been to Arizona which is filled with cacti and dry land. So many landscape their yards with cacti because of that. Nice Noreen!
Hubby and I were plannign on going to Arizona this month, but then we found out that the temp would be just 75 degrees ... which is too cold for 'me' to be in the pool. So, Arizona .. we will visit you and your cacti another time! Great pics Noreen, thanks for sharing them!
I have never been to a desert but the photo looks so lovely and sunny and warm that I wish I were there!
